Fine Group

In 1948, Captain Henry Fine of the Royal Army Service Corps had the innovative idea to recycle used WWII barrage balloons into bags and tents that in post-war Britain were in limited supply.

Since its humble beginnings in Kings Cross the company has grown under the stewardship of successive Fine generations to offer design and manufacturing bases both in the UK and Southern China, and a resourceful supply chain with global reach.

Our expertise and relationships with leading professionals in some of the most extreme and technically demanding fields position us at the forefront of textile innovation and as such enable us to provide solutions to the most challenging requirements.

As a family business, we place quality service and innovation among our core values and will go to great lengths to ensure our reputation for providing these is successfully passed on to future generations.

Fine Group in China

Following a successful 25 year relationship with our prime subcontractor during which the Fine Group designed, planned and financed the building of a state of the art manufacturing facility on the adjacent plot, and the need to further improve upon quality, efficiency and communication, the board of directors decided to acquire the business in 2012.
The factory is staffed by over 250 dedicated and long-serving skilled workers of whom over 50% are native to the local village – an advantage that is uncommon in the general Chinese workforce. In fact, we are the largest employer of local labour.
The departments, systems and machinery mirror those of our Wembley facility and as such offer a seamless transition of production from one to the other thus giving our customers the flexibility to start domestically with small production runs while also benefiting from the economies of scale and lower labour cost of China when lead times are less of a concern. The opposite can also be true where a smaller batch may be needed at short notice.
